Barangay comm to review Bugo's proposed Tapat Ko-Linis Ko ordinance

THE City Council Committee on Barangay Affairs, chaired by Councilor Yan Lam S. Lim, is set to review Barangay Bugo’s Tapat Ko-Linis Ko (Tungod Ko Limpyohan Ko) Ordinance, which mandate that all residential and commercial establishments in Bugo maintain the cleanliness and orderliness in their immediate surroundings, including drainage systems and canals.

The ordinance seeks to foster collaboration among residents to curb indiscriminate practices that contribute to visual clutter and disrupt the cleanliness of public spaces.

It also prohibits activities such as hanging clothes or other items on electrical wires, windows, posts, and other unsuitable areas, washing or drying clothes on gutters, sidewalks, streets, alleys, or roads, allowing pets to defecate or urinate outside their property boundaries, storing or leaving junked vehicles, dilapidated appliances, waste, or debris in public areas, which may obstruct pedestrian or vehicular traffic.

The ordinance also bans the construction of animal pens, leashed animal areas, and unauthorized extensions of houses or businesses, such as roofs, canopies, and fences, on sidewalks. Using sidewalks for planting trees or placing pots is similarly prohibited by the said ordinance, The Gavel learned.
