The Alpha Theta Phi-Varsitarian Grand Fraternity and Sorority is now a member of the Cagayan de Oro Local Special Bodies (LSB) after the 20th City Councilโ€™s regular session, presided over by Councilor Romeo V. Calizo, adopted a resolution accrediting the organization.

Pursuant to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) circular and Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Local Government Code, the said accredited CSO can now avail of government funding for its projects.

The Alpha Theta seeks to foster academic, educational community service, and social initiatives unique to its chapter and members. With its aim to forge brotherhood ties and social interactions, the organization also engages in community outreach activities, clean-up drive, feeding programs, Brigada Eskwela, and donation of school supplies.

The legislation was reviewed and endorsed by the City Council Committees on Planning, Research and Innovation and Peopleโ€™s Organization Accreditation and on Laws and Rules respectively chaired by Councilors Ian Mark Q. Nacaya and Edgar S. Cabanlas.
