Achas pushes enactment of ‘Tugkaran Ko, Limpyohan Ko’ proposed ordinance

“Atong i-obligar ang atong mga kabarangayan nga mosuroy sa zona aron ma obliga ang mga katawhan magsugod na gyud og pagpanglimpyo (sa ilang tugkaran).”

This was stressed by Councilor Christian Rustico M. Achas, on Monday during the regular session presided over by Presiding Officer Pro Tempore Councilor Romeo V. Calizo, as he pushed for the enactment of his proposed ordinance known as “Tugkaran Ko, Limpyohan Ko!”.

In reaction to the special report of Councilor Roger G. Abaday regarding the sanitary landfill concerns, Achas recalled that he filed a proposed ordinance institutionalizing the campaign “Tugkaran Ko, Limpyohan Ko!” every third Saturday of the month and imposing penalties for non-compliance with the ordinance. He said that this proposed ordinance requires all residential and commercial establishments to clean and maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the sidewalk and immediate premises fronting their area.

Under the proposed ordinance, the owner, lessee, or occupant of both residential and commercial establishments situated within the city shall undertake to clean the sidewalk and passageway fronting their residential house, building, or properties lining the street from the line of the property to the middle of the street and from one property to the other.

Councilor Achas expressed hopes that his proposed ordinance will be enacted soon to strengthen the implementation of solid waste management in every barangay.

“Unta mahatagan na og higayon nga ma-approve ang proposed ordinance aron ma-obligar nato atong mga barangay na maimplementar nila ang solid waste management… kabahin aning pagpanglimpyo kay dako kaayo kini nga epekto sa atong panglawas”, Councilor Achas concluded.
