3-yr franchise renewal of Canitoan-Pagatpat Cockpit OK’d

THE 20th City Council, during its 125th regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, has unanimously approved the renewal of the franchise granted to the Canitoan-Pagatpat Cockers Association (CPCA), allowing it to continue operating the Canitoan-Pagatpat Cockpit Arena in Barangay Pagatpat for another three years.

The cockpit, located at Zone 2, Lunas, Barangay Pagatpat, has been a regulated venue for local cockfighting events and derbies in the city. Its renewal is subject to strict compliance with all applicable national and local laws, including health, sanitary, and environmental regulations as well as safety protocols particularly on on cockfighting and derby standards under Ordinance No. 4373-94, or the city’s Codified Ordinance, as amended, and Presidential Decree No. 449, also known as the Cockfighting Law of 1974.
The Canitoan-Pagatpat Cockpit was originally granted franchise under Ordinance No. 13432-2018, then renewed for another three years under Ordinance No. 14322-2022. (FDCalotes/SP)
