CdeO will be drug-free – Calizo
COUNCILOR Romeo V. Calizo, chair of City Council committee on police, fire and public safety said he is optimistic that Cagayan de Oro will soon be declared as a drug-free city.
As co-chair of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC), Calizo made this pronouncement during the radio program “Ang Konseho Karon: The Mover of Change and City’s Development,” aired last week. He announced that the campaign, which initially started at City Hall, will continue to infiltrate the city’s 80 barangays.
It was learned that the conduct of random drug tests for all officials and employees of the city government was completed recently in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO). Certain measures and programs were formulated and administered to those who are using prohibited drugs, he further said.
Calizo assured that the governnment’s fight against drug abuse will not stop until all barangays in the city are covered.
This will ensure the attainment of a drug-free community where residents can live peacefully and free from all forms of criminality believed to be caused and triggered by the illegal use of drugs, he cited. (SP/JAO)
