MOA with DA for farming implement seen

THE proposed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to be entered into by and between the city government and the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Unit (DA-RFU) for one unit mobile shedder is now being reviewed by the 18th City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy.

This is in line with the mandate of the DA to promote agricultural development through bottom-up self-reliant farming systems that will emphasize equity, productivity and sustainability.

Under the MOA, the DA shall transfer to the city the project with an actual cost of P190,000 per unit; procure the program in accordance with RA 9184 and turnover the project to the city on a grant scheme. It shall, likewise, regularly monitor the activities of the city government, including the operation and maintenance of the project.

For its part, the city shall secure all the legal documentation such as the permit to operate from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). It shall utilize the project in accordance with its intended use. It is responsible and accountable for the security of the project, among others.

The committee on agriculture and fisheries chaired by Councilor Annie Daba favorably endorsed the MOA to the committee on laws and rules chaired by Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya for appropriate action.
