Pascual announces fiesta 2018 activities

COUNCILOR Jay R. Pascual, chairman of City Council committee on tourism, said several activities have been lined-up by the city for this year’s fiesta celebration in honor of St. Augustine.

The councilor made the announcement during the radio program Ang Konseho Karon hosted by Councilor Ian Mark Q. Nacaya.

He said the events include the Higalaay Agri Fair and Garden Show at Gaston Park (August 3-31 from 8AM to 9PM), Kumbira 2018 at the Limketkai Center (August 15-17 from 10AM to 9PM), Kahimunan Regional Trade Fair at SM City Uptown (August 17-29 from 10AM to 9PM), Kagay-an Festival Marathon at Centrio Mall (August 19, 3AM) and Higalaay Choral Competition at Centrio Mall Activity Center (August 19 from 2PM to 6PM).

Other activities to highlight the celebration are the Cowboy Festival at Roa Property at CDO uptown on Aug. 24 to 26, Miss Cagayan de Oro 2018 coronation night at Limketkai Atrium (August 25 at 7PM), and the Special Feature First Motor Ace Kagay-an Dragon Boat Fiesta Race (Aug. 25-26 at 7 AM).

Residents and guests can also enjoy the crowd-drawing Carnival Street dance competition on August 26 at 3 PM, Higalaay Street Parade and Float Civic Military Parade on August 27 at 7AM and the Centrio Mall Bisperas Fireworks at Duaw Park on August 27 at 8PM.

The Seventh Mindanao Fashion Summit at Centrio Mall Activity Center will be held from August 27 to 29 at 3PM, Religious Procession on August 28 at 4 AM, Fluvial Procession on August 28, and the SM Higalaay Pyro Musical Festival at the Pueblo de Oro Business Park on August 28 at 8:30PM.

There will also be a Higalaay Festival Sale at Limketkai Center on August 13-31, at SM Downtown Premier (August 24-31), Ororama Supercenter (August 24-28), Centrio Ayala Mall (August 24-31), and SM City Uptown (August 24-31), The Power learned.

According to Councilor Pascual, Kagay-anons can expect other festivities as the whole month celebration unfolds. Along with this, he asks for cooperation of everyone in keeping the celebration peaceful and orderly.

“Actually daghan pa ni kaayo because these are only the core events as compared sa atong parallel events. So ang ato lang gyud tinguha ug tumong is magpabibo lang ta di ta magpaapekto sa mga hisgot-hisgot, istorya-istorya bahin sa mga dautang elemento kay kabalo man ta unsay nahitabo atong isa ka lugar, dili lang unta nato damayon ang atong dakbayan. Kay especially duol na ang atong mga fiesta activities, dili na unya mabibo ang atong kapistahan,” Councilor Pascual stressed. (JAO)
