Agri body backs implementation of corn production project

THE implementation of the “Sustainable Corn Production in Sloping Areas (SCoPSA) – Techno Demo Farm” will take place soon.

This, as the City Council committee on agriculture and fisheries chaired by Councilor Annie Y. Daba favorably approved and endorsed to the committee on laws and rules chaired by Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya the proposed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to be executed by and among the city government of Cagayan de Oro, Department of Agriculture Region 10 and Dionedes Rosel of Barangay Balubal for the purpose.

The MOA was endorsed by City Mayor Oscar Moreno and the City Legal Office, noting that it is in legal order.

The DA is implementing the project to showcase the technology to farmers and to determine the cost and return of the technology to attain the priority concerns for corn industry.

The SCoPSA project, under the corn program, is providing material inputs to the proponent to support the project, The Power learned.

The committee, likewise, approved and endorsed the draft of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to be executed between the city and Xavier University (Ateneo de Cagayan) for the BUB Implementation on Boar Stud Artificial Insemination Center.

The city’s agenda include agricultural productivity, tying up with cooperatives to expand economic reach to farmers, increasing the productivity of the farmers and fisherfolks, and institute measures that will ensure sustained food security.
