Pascual cmte pushes for well-planned, disseminated city sports program

THE City Council committee on youth and sports development chaired by Councilor Jay Pascual on Tuesday urged the City Sports Commission to post scheduled sports activities where the public can see.

Councilor Pascual also asked the sports body to consider scheduling monthly activities on different kinds of sports.

He said one particular month could be for basketball and the rest for other sports.

According to the councilor, this will enable the youth to choose the event they want and prepare for it.

STUDIES

Councilor Romeo Calizo said proper studies are needed to come up with a good sports program.

He said there are still ten months this year to plan what sports activities to engage in. He said the plan should even go beyond 2018.

“Mas maayo hangtud 2019 na,” he added.

Meanwhile, Councilor Lordan Suan requested the sports body to submit its programs to the committee so that these can be tackled in succeeding committee meetings.

These concerns and suggestions were raised during discussions on the resolution of the 2016 Rotary Youth Council requesting Mayor Moreno through the committee to conduct recreational sports program for the youth to prevent exposure to illegal drugs.(LCR)
