In response to growing concerns from residents regarding access to a right of way, Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas, chair of the City Council committee on subdivision, housing development, and landed estate, together with the Barangay Council of Puntod headed by Barangay Chairman Alexis Dacer and the city’s technical team, conducted an ocular inspection of the affected area at Balacanas, Barangay Puntod.

It may be recalled that residents expressed their frustration that the CD Corporation, lot owner, intends to construct a fence on their lot, hindering access and movement for those living in the vicinity.

During the inspection, Councilor Cabanlas assessed the boundaries of the lot and reviewed the feasibility of acquiring a portion of the property through land expropriation. This is to provide residents with the necessary access they require in cases of emergencies.

Cabanlas said the committee will ask permission from the lot owner to conduct survey at the area and to negotiate the lot owner for possible land expropriation.

The committee will wait for the result of the survey of the city engineers and to hold a follow-up meeting to discuss possible outcomes. (JBD/SP)
