Shortage of paracetamol supply being addressed - Goking

COUNCILOR George S. Goking, chair of the City Council committee on trade and commerce and on ways and means, said the reported shortage of certain brands of paracetamol in drugstores and pharmacies was already tackled by his committee.

Reacting to the special report of Councilor Roger Abaday during the regular session Monday presided over by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy, Council Goking said that the problem has been acted upon.

No need to worry, there is a solution already, he stressed.

Goking said drugstores were requested to post available brands of paracetamol in their stores to guide customers. The use of generic paracetamol was also recommended.

If you want to buy paracetamol in a drugstore of pharmacy and it is out of stock, you can look for other pharmacies, Goking cited. He, however said, pharmacies and drugstores are not allowed to sell paracetamol by volume.

The councilor stressed that if there will be a problem in transporting stocks of these much-needed supplies of paracetamol, the help of the Philippine Air Force can be requested.
