Put people first in the pursuit of progress - Dahino

For Councilor Desiree Dahino, progress is not only building bigger or newer structures but also ensuring that every development is grounded in transparency, accountability, and the welfare of the people.

As chairperson of the committee on women and family relations, Dahino carried this principle into the meeting of the Committee on Laws and Rules, chaired by Councilor Edgar Cabanlas, where members discussed Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy’s request for authority to negotiate with financial and banking institutions for the proposed Cagayan de Oro Government Complex in Brgy. Carmen.

The proposed complex seeks to consolidate government offices and services in one accessible, modern, and efficient location, making public service more convenient for Kagay-anons.

However, Dahino stressed that ambition must be matched with responsibility, emphasizing the need for complete studies, sound financial planning, and safeguards to protect public funds.

“Progress requires vision, but it must always be guided by transparency, accountability, and the best interest of the people,” Dahino said.

As Cagayan de Oro continues to grow, Dahino believes that careful deliberation and responsible decision-making are essential to ensuring that development remains sustainable and responsive to the needs of the people. (JDO/SP)
