Pascual joins launch of organic vegetable production program in Tablon

Councilor Juancho "Antuy" Pascual joined the launching of the Season-Long Organic Vegetable Production Farmer Field School (FFS) at the Lantaw CDO Family Model Farm in Sitio Cabancaban, Barangay Tablon, on July 15, 2026.


Pascual, chairperson of the committee on agriculture and fisheries, commended the City Agriculture Office for spearheading the initiative, describing it as a vital program that equips farmers with sustainable farming practices while strengthening the city's food security.


"I am grateful to witness another meaningful initiative that empowers our farmers, promotes sustainable agriculture, and strengthens food security in our communities," Pascual said in a Facebook post.


The four-month program, which runs from July to October 2026, will provide farmers with lectures, hands-on training, and field demonstrations on organic vegetable production, soil health management, crop management, and other sustainable farming technologies.


The initiative is spearheaded by the Agricultural Productivity Operations Office (APOO) through its Agronomy Division in partnership with the Kiapo Palalan Farmers Irrigators Association (KIPAFIA), with support from the Department of Agriculture–Regional Field Office X, National Irrigation Administration Region X, Kaneko Seeds, and the Agricultural Training Institute–Regional Training Center X.


Also present during the launching were Engr. Bernie A. Daba Jr., Officer-in-Charge City Agriculturist; Councilor Paolo Gaane; and members of the Organic Society of Cagayan de Oro Inc. (OGSCI), who reaffirmed their support for advancing organic agriculture and sustainable food production in the city. (JDO/SP)
