Councilor Gilda O. Go, chairperson of the committee on senior citizens, joined about 300 senior citizens during PhilHealth Region 10's Elderly Filipino Week celebration on October 16 at Limketkai Luxe Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City.

Anchored on the theme “YAKAP sa Kalusugan, Kalinga sa Nakakatanda,” the activity highlighted the importance of accessible healthcare, awareness of PhilHealth benefits, and sustained support for the health and well-being of older persons.

The celebration featured an orientation on the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP), along with registration and the provision of healthcare services for participating senior citizens.

The activity formed part of continuing efforts to strengthen awareness of available health services and benefits for senior citizens and promote their right to dignified, accessible, and responsive healthcare.

Go’s participation also underscored the importance of collaboration among government agencies and senior citizens’ organizations addressing the needs of the elderly sector.

In her Facebook post, Go expressed her appreciation for senior citizens and reaffirmed her commitment to their health, dignity, and well-being.

“Para sa atong mga pinalanggang lolo ug lola, kamo kanunay namong gihigugma, gipasalamatan, ug gipabilhan. Your health, dignity, and well-being will always remain close to my heart. Together, let us continue building a city where our senior citizens feel loved, respected, cared for, and never forgotten,” Go said.

Asum; PhilHealth Local Health Insurance Office Cagayan de Oro Chief Marlon Niño S. Arrabaca; Office for Senior Citizens President Victor Lagang; and PhilHealth Region 10 Membership Section Head Fatmah T. Guiling, along with Merlyn Ybañez. (JAO/SP)
