COUNCILOR Paolo Nicolo Gaane, vice-chair of the City Council committee on social services, expressed alarm over the alleged discrimination against a Person with Disability (PWD) involving clamping of vehicle in the Pueblo de Oro Business Park.

The joint committees on social services and on public utilities presided over by Councilor Rodriguez III, discussed the report with the representatives of PACE, Engr. Nonito Oclarit of Roads and Traffic Administration, City Legal Office, and other concerned agencies.

During the committee meeting, Engr. Adrian Alcayde, PACE’s representative, mentioned that they are collecting pay parking fees within the business park. He said that they have expenses, including employment for seven parking attendants and ten security guards.

Councilor Gaane questioned whether the salary of their employees is funded through the revenue generated from citation tickets and parking fees.

“So, mahulog siya nga murag nag commission-based kay the more daghan madakpan, the more ang income mo-sulod maoy ilang gamiton for their employees,” he said.

Gaane expressed his support to the move temporarily suspending the issuance of citation tickets and vehicle clamping, noting that the matter will be discussed further with the company and their legal consultants.

After thorough deliberation, the committee gave PACE two weeks to submit its position paper as regards to the issue for review of the City Council and City Legal Office.

Also present during the discussion were Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, Councilors Imee Moreno, Roger Abaday, and Aga Suan. (JBD/SP/Photos from Councilor Gaane's FB page)
