Financial literacy key to breaking poverty cycle, Go says
Committee on Cooperatives Chairperson and Councilor Gilda “Gigi” Go emphasized the importance of financial literacy in helping break the cycle of poverty and build sustainable livelihoods.
Go delivered the message to 50 parent leaders of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) who attended the Financial Literacy Training organized by the City Inter-Agency Committee (CIAC) Subcommittee on Social Security, in partnership with various government agencies and organizations.
The training covered savings, financial planning, and economic empowerment, with ACDI Cooperative Branch Accountant Maria Celina Manlusoc serving as the resource speaker and sharing practical financial management knowledge with the participants.
Representatives from the Social Security System (SSS) and Pag-IBIG Fund also shared their expertise during the activity.
The initiative was supported by the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) Office, Community Improvement Division, and City Cooperative Development Office, represented by City Cooperative Development Officer Rodger Zerna.
The ACDI Multipurpose Cooperative, led by VisMin Lending Group Head Claudine A. Malanog, hosted the training at its multipurpose hall.
The activity aimed to equip 4Ps beneficiaries with knowledge and skills to make informed financial decisions, strengthen their savings practices, and pursue opportunities for greater economic empowerment. (PGU/SP)
