DURING the City Council’s 9th regular session, Councilor Al Legaspi Sr. expressed his full support for the proposed measure that seeks to regulate and monitor the sale and use of substandard Christmas decorations and illegal fireworks.
“Safety should always come first,” Councilor Legaspi stated, emphasizing the potential dangers posed by low-quality Christmas lights and firecrackers.
He warned that such products could cause fire hazards and electrical accidents, especially during the holiday season, and stressed that ensuring public safety should be “everybody’s concern.”
Legaspi underscored the importance of preventive action, noting that with proper regulation, the city can help protect homes and families and promote a safer celebration of the holidays.
The proposal, initiated by Councilor George Christopher Goking, was referred to the committee on trade and commerce chaired by Councilor Goking, the committee on consumer protection chaired by Councilor Jonjon Rodriguez, and the committee on public order and safety chaired by Councilor Roger Abaday.
