City, DOH to implement MAIFIP program
To strengthen healthcare accessibility for the city’s most vulnerable residents, the city government, in collaboration with DOH, will soon implement the Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients (MAIFIP) program.
This, as the 21st City Council headed by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez enacted an ordinance authorizing City Mayor Rolando A. Uy to sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Health-Center for Health Development Northern Mindanao (DOH-CHDNM) for the implementation of the program.
This collaboration aims to streamline the delivery of medical financial assistance to city residents who are unable to afford hospital bills, procedures, and essential medications.
Under the provisions of the MOA, the MAIFIP program will serve as a vital safety net for constituents classified as indigent or financially incapacitated.
The MAIFIP program, an initiative of the DOH, is designed to provide direct financial aid to patients confined in government hospitals and, under specific conditions, select private facilities.
Through this partnership, the city will facilitate the verification of beneficiaries and ensuring that the assistance reaches those who need it most.
The CHD through the Malasakit Program Unit (MPU) shall determine the private hospitals, city hospital, clinical laboratories (with mobile laboratories), primary healthcare facilities, DOH accredited dental clinics, free standing dialysis clinics and other public or private health facilities which can provide the necessary medical services to patients, subject to MAIFIP program guidelines issued by the Malasakit Program Office (MPO).
