Agriculture committee to discuss local fishers’ woes

The City Council committee on agriculture, chaired by Councilor Jay R. Pascual, will meet on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, to thresh out issues regarding the registration of fishermen/fisherfolks, fishing boats and the submission of Daily Journal of Fish Catch.

This is in relation to the special report of Councilor James K. Judith II, during the 27th Regular Session of the 20th City Council last February 13, 2023.

According to Judith, fishermen in the city are asking the city government’s intervention specifically to address the tedious registration as required by the Registry System for Basic Sector (RSBS) in Agriculture.

He added they are also tired of maintaining a daily journal on the number and kind of fish catch, fish sold and consumed, among other data. The councilor further said these requisites have become physically tedious for them considering the kind of work they do every day.

Invited to attend the meeting are representatives from the office of the City Administrator, City Agriculture as well as from the City Budget Office and City Legal Office. Also invited are Councilor Judith and Mr. Larry Salcedo representing the Federation of Fisherfolk in Cagayan de Oro City (FEDOFAC).
