MOA for farming project up for OK

VICE Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy referred to the City Council committee on agriculture chaired by Councilor Annie Y. Daba the proposed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the city government and the Department of Agriculture (DA) for the grant of three units water pump and engine sets.


This is in line with the thrust of the DA Regional Field Office 10 to increase farm productivity and farmer’s income through bottom-up self-reliant farming systems approach that will emphasize equity, productivity and sustainability in the use of agricultural resources.

Among others, the DA has embarked on priority programs, projects and activities to mitigate the adverse effect of El Niño and rehabilitate damaged agricultural areas such as the provision of the water pump and engine sets, The Power learned.


Pursuant to the proposed MOA, the DA shall procure the project with an actual cost of P88,888 per unit, turn-over the project to the city as grant scheme and regularly monitor the activities of the city, including the operation and maintenance of the said equipment, among others.

For its part, the city shall submit the list of recipients of the project for record and monitoring purposes, secure all the legal documents and utilize the project in accordance with its intended use.


It shall, likewise, come up with guidelines and policies of operation, and take responsibility for the security of the project, among others.
