THE 18th City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy continues to act on measures to address the needs of mentally-challenged residents.
The committee on social services chaired by Councilor Reuben R. Daba during its recent meeting favorably endorsed to the Local Finance Committee the proposal to increase the city’s financial assistance to the House of Hope located at Upper Palalan in Barangay Lumbia.
A representative of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD) said the House of Hope has been very helpful in addressing the city’s concern for the mentally-challenged, as a neglected sector of the society.
He said the foundation has been a partner of the city for many years now. The House of Hope is funded by the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro and other benefactors, The Power learned.
Councilor Daba and Councilor George Goking supported the increase in the budget of House of Hope, saying it will also increase the capacity of the facility.
As this developed, Councilor Daba requested the House of Hope to submit the program of works for its proposed budget. He said this will be submitted to the Local Finance Committee for recommendation. (JBD)
