San Simon SWM law OKd

THE 18th City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy during its 57th regular session last Monday presided over by Acting Vice Mayor Zaldy O. Ocon adopted a resolution returning to the Barangay Council of San Simon, this city, its Ordinance No. 002 (Series of 2017), entitled “Barangay Ordinance on Ecological Solid Waste Management”.

The primary goal of the barangay law is to enhance ecological balance of the community through sustainable and integrated waste management. It also aims to guide, control and regulate the generation of solid wastes within the barangay, promote an orderly and sanitary system for the same, among others.

Its objectives include the round-the-clock cleanliness through the orderly management of waste and eradication of unsightly, uncovered and overflowing waste containers in streets, public places and open spaces.

The barangay ordinance imposes corresponding fines and penalties to violators.

The legislation was endorsed by the committees on barangay affairs and on laws and rules chaired by Councilors Yan Lam S. Lim and Ian Mark Q. Nacaya, respectively. (JAO)
