Councilor Yan Lam S. Lim, chairperson of the committee on ways and means, underscored the importance of developing agriculture and supporting local products in advancing the city’s progress during the official launching of the Fiesta sa Kaumahan: AgroFair and Garden Show 2026 held on August 6, 2026, at Gaston Park, as part of the city’s month-long fiesta celebration.“Ang maong kalihokan usa ka pagpamatuod nga ang pagpalambo sa agrikultura ug pagsuporta sa atong lokal nga mga produkto importante alang sa mas lig-on ug mas mauswagon nga kaugmaon sa atong siyudad,” Lim said.


In a Facebook post, Lim said the event celebrates not only the abundance and diversity of agricultural produce but also the dedication, hard work, and perseverance of the city’s farmers and gardeners.


He likewise expressed his appreciation to the organizers, participants, and everyone who contributed to the success of the event, noting the importance of collective efforts in promoting and strengthening the city’s agricultural sector.


Lim encouraged stakeholders to continue working together to advance local agriculture and support homegrown products, emphasizing that such efforts contribute to a stronger agricultural sector and a more prosperous future for the community. (JAO/SP)

Kini human ang konseho sa syudad atol sa sesyon niadtong Lunes nga gidumala ni Bise Mayor Bebot Rodriguez hiniusang misagop sa resolusyon nga nag-aprobar sa Contingency Plan on Earthquake sa dakbayan, subay sa Resolution No. 004-2026 sa City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC).


Matod sa konsehal nga importante kaayo kini aron masiguro ang paspas ug plastado nga pagtubag sa dakbayan kon kini makasinati sa linog.Kini nga lakang nagtumong sa hingpit nga kaluwasan sa kinabuhi sa matag Kagay-anon, ingon man ang mga kabtangan ug sa kinaiyahan.


Walay pasidaan ang kalamidad, apan ang saktong pangandam maoy maghatag og dakong higayon sa kaluwasan sa tanan, sumpay ni Gaane.

“Wala mo’y lain buhaton, mu-gawas ra mo sa inyong balay ug makig-sadya ta karong Higalaay Festival”. 

City Council committee on tourism Chairperson, Councilor Joyleen Mercedes “Girlie” L. Balaba invited Kagay-anons to come out and join the Higalaay Festival festivities following the 48th Regular Session of the City Council on August 10, 2026.


As chair of the committee on tourism, she has been actively involved in the preparation and coordination of the fiesta celebration activities.


During the Higalaay Festival Kick-off celebration, Balaba said this year’s theme, “Our Gift, Our Pride, Our Guide”, serves as a reminder to cherish the talents, culture, faith, and traditions, as these shape the identity of the Kagay-anons.  


She also expressed hope that the celebration would strengthen bonds and friendships among the people and encourage them to share their blessings with others, inspiring everyone to work toward a brighter tomorrow.


This year’s Higalaay Festival is composed of 58 official events. Alongside the annual city parade and other traditional festivities, new activities include a pickleball tournament and Fiesta sa Barrio, which will showcase the specialty dishes of participating barangays. (PGU/SP)
