The committee on barangay affairs, chaired by Councilor Marlo L. Tabac, has referred to the City Legal Office the barangay ordinance institutionalizing Macabalan’s financial assistance program for indigent residents.
The measure seeks to establish a formal mechanism for providing financial aid to qualified residents facing financial difficulties due to emergencies, medical needs, or the death of a family member.
Under the proposal, eligible beneficiaries may receive ₱1,000 for medicines, ₱1,500 for hospital bills, and ₱2,000 for funeral expenses for a deceased resident. The measure also provides ₱8,000 in burial assistance to the immediate family or first-degree relatives of the deceased.
The barangay ordinance has been referred to the City Legal Office for further review. (JAO/SP)
Councilor Yevonna Yacine B. Emano congratulated 1,083 graduates of various Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) programs for completing their technical-vocational training during the 2026 TVET Mass Graduation held last week at the Aquilino Q. Pimentel Jr. International Convention Center.
As one of the event’s speakers, Emano encouraged the graduates to maximize the knowledge and practical skills they have gained to pursue better livelihood opportunities, become more self-reliant, and help improve their families’ quality of life.
The graduates from Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro City completed programs offered by eight technical-vocational institutions in heavy equipment operation, welding, electrical installation, driving, food and beverage services, housekeeping, cookery, bartending, and early childhood care services.
Of the total graduates, 130 completed the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Services National Certificate III program at COBSAT, while 211 graduates from SKIVTECH Training Academy. (JAO/SP)
