Tabac lauds CIACAT-VAWC for high functionality rating
Councilor Marlo L. Tabac lauded the City Inter-Agency Committee Against Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Their Children (CIACAT-VAWC) of Cagayan de Oro for earning a highly functional rating in the 2025 Functionality Assessment conducted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
This as the 21st City Council during its regular session Monday adopted a resolution congratulating and commending the committee for its achievement.
Tabac, president of the Liga ng mga Barangay, also congratulated Councilors Desiree Dahino and Jonjon Rodriguez, chairpersons of the committees on women and family relations and social services, respectively, for their initiatives in strengthening programs that promote the welfare and protection of women and children.
He cited the improvements in the implementation of Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAWC) desk programs at the barangay level, noting that communities have seen the impact of initiatives undertaken by concerned offices.

“Nakita namo sa kabarangayan how VAWC desks are empowered today. Ug nagpasalamat mi sa achievement, sa nahimo sa mga opisina tungod kay among nabati sa kabarangayan ang tinuod na programa,” Tabac said.
He stressed the importance of sustaining efforts to empower women and parents, particularly in communities where barangays play a vital role in protecting children and promoting family welfare.
Tabac’s remarks highlighted the importance of collaboration between the City Council, concerned offices, and barangay officials in strengthening local mechanisms for addressing trafficking and violence against women and children. (JAO/SP)
