Subsidy for indigent solo parents for release in October

The 2024 subsidy for indigent solo parents in Cagayan de Oro City will be released in the last week of October, following discussions during the joint meeting of the committees on social services; on finance, budget and appropriations; on women and family relations; and on senior citizens.

It may be recalled that Councilor Rodriguez, during the 12th regular session, delivered a special report calling for the immediate release of the subsidy, which was originally scheduled for distribution between June and December 2024.

The City Finance Office assured that the ₱7,000 cash subsidy for each of the 1,000 identified indigent solo parent beneficiaries, endorsed by the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD), will finally be released later this month.  Rodriguez appreciated this development, stressing that the release of the subsidy will bring much-needed relief to solo parents who have long awaited government assistance.

The meeting was attended by Councilors Gigi Go, Aga Suan, Yvy Emano, Imee Moreno, Yan Lam Lim, and Enrico Salcedo, along with officials and representatives from concerned offices and stakeholders. (JDO/SP)
