Special land use agreement for waste management facilities OKd

THE 20th City Council, during its 84th regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, gave the greenlight for City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy to apply for a Special Forest Land Use Agreement (FLAg) with the Department of Natural Resources – Region 10 (DENR-10) to expedite the completion of the newly built medical and hospital waste treatment facility, as well as the wastewater treatment facility, at the city’s sanitary landfill.

In his letter to the City Council, Mayor Uy emphasized that an agreement between the city government and DENR-10 is needed to construct a transmission line across a parcel of landing spanning from Sitio Camarahan in Barangay Pagatpat to the Sanitary Landfill at Pagalungan to fully operationalize the new waste management facilities.

Currently, the facilities are awaiting clearance from the Misamis Oriental Rural Electric Service Cooperative, Inc. (MORESCO) due to the lack of proper power connection. One key prerequisite for obtaining this is the agreement to secure the right of way for the transmission line, The Gavel learned.

Mayor Uy certified the matter urgent to ensure timely implementation of the infrastructure projects.
