SP grants amusement tax exemption to XU-Dulaang Atenista theater production

THE 20th City Council during its regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez approved an ordinance granting amusement tax exemption to Dulaang Atenista of Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, for its upcoming theater play.

The sponsored production, titled “How Reunion’s Work by Alessandro Nioda”, is scheduled to run from June 12 to 14, 2025 at the XU Little Theater.

Section 43 of Ordinance No. 12860-2014 or the 2015 Revenue Code authorizes the grant of amusement tax exemption for the holding of operas, concerts, dramas, recitals, painting and art exhibitions, flower shows, musical programs, literary and oratorical presentations, except concerts performed by professional artists.

The ordinance was reviewed and endorsed by the committees on ways and means and on laws and rules respectively chaired by Councilors George S. Goking and Edgar S. Cabanlas. (JBDacer/SP)
