Sitio Guinitan farmers to receive corn sheller

The Guinitan Upland Farmers Association in Barangay Pagalungan will soon be provided with a ₱300,000-worth mechanical corn sheller, a tool which automates the manual removal of dried corn kernels from the cob. 

This, after the committee on agriculture, fisheries, and aquatic resources, chaired by Councilor Juancho “Antuy” Pascual recently tackled the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the city government and the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office (DA RFO) 10 for the purpose.

Acting City Agriculturist Engr. Bernie Daba informed the committee that all documentary requirements had already been facilitated and validated by their office.

He added the association itself requested the equipment, and that nearby associations and barangays may also use the agricultural tool, subject to the beneficiary’s approval.

Engr. Daba assured the committee that his office would submit the revised MOA at the soonest possible time taking into consideration the comments and legal opinion of the City Legal Office.

Councilor Pascual said the committee will await the final draft of the agreement and will be referring the matter to the Local Finance Committee for further action. (SPE/SP)
