Pascual cites teachers’, students’ awareness of depression

"SINCE upat ra man kaha ang atong psychiatrist diri sa City, like what the police did sa atong mga barangay tanod, basin pwede pud nato ang DepEd atong ma-tap because naa man sa mga schools …. mga guidance counsellors."

This was the suggestion of Councilor Jay R. Pascual in reaction to the special report of Councilor James K. Judith during the regular session Monday with regards to the string of suicide incidents at the Marcos Bridge mostly involving students of different schools in the city.

Considering that the school is the second home, Pascual stressed the need for both the teachers and students to be fully aware of the subject about depression, most specifically in determining warning signs of those struggling against it.

"Kay ang atong goal … magtinabanga man, I hope ang DepEd atong ma-tap as force multipliers (in the City's fight against depression) para matambagan ug matabangan ang atong mga kabataan," the councilor strongly suggested.
