THE city is set to enhance its delivery of health care services following the enactment of an ordinance by the 20th City Council during its regular session on Monday, presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez.
The legislation authorizes City Mayor Rolando A. Uy to sign the Deed of Donation with the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) covering the latter’s donation of one (1) unit Patient Transport Vehicle (PTV), including its accessories, under the terms and conditions stipulated therein.
In his letter to the City Council, Mayor Uy emphasized that the donation will strengthen the city’s health sector by increasing the number of available PTVs, thereby improving emergency response capabilities and potentially saving more lives within the community.
Under the deed, the city government shall transfer the vehicle’s registration to its name, secure third-party liability and comprehensive insurance with the Land Transportation Office (LTO), obtain the original Official Receipt (OR) and Certificate of Registration (CR), and submit proof of registration with the Department of Health (DOH) to PCSO within three (3) months from receipt of the PTV.
Additionally, if the city decides to upgrade the PTV into a full ambulance, it must notify PCSO in writing prior to the upgrade and provide an update once the upgrade is completed.
The city is also mandated to maintain the PTV in roadworthy condition, allocate sufficient funds, shoulder all operational and maintenance expenses, and allow PCSO representatives to inspect the unit any time.
The legislation was certified urgent by Mayor Uy and approved by the City Council.(JAOclarit/SP)
