Go to young leaders: Build bridges, dream big

“Listen with intent. Build bridges, not barriers. Dream big but start now.”

This was the key message of Councilor Gilda O. Go as she welcomed student leaders during the YMCA Panagtagbo 2026 held on July 18, 2026, at the YMCA Founders Hall, YMCA Building, in this city.

In her welcome remarks, Go underscored the vital role of young people in shaping their communities through meaningful leadership.

She described it as a privilege to welcome young leaders whose passion, enthusiasm, and commitment demonstrate that leadership begins with listening, understanding, and taking action.

The lady councilor, also the president of YMCA CdeO Chapter, commended the delegates for embracing the responsibility to lead with purpose, reminding them that their voices and actions matter and that no one is too young to make a difference.

She further encouraged them to continue building bridges, inspiring one another, and transforming their communities through servant leadership.

Derived from the Visayan word meaning "gathering" or "coming together," Panagtagbo is a YMCA initiative that brings together student leaders to promote leadership, collaboration, fellowship, and community engagement.

The program also provides opportunities for participants to build networks across schools, exchange ideas and best practices, strengthen their leadership competencies, and inspire one another to become responsible and service-oriented leaders. (JAO/SP)
