The festive spirit of Cagayan de Oro, the "City of Golden Friendship", is on full display as Councilor Paolo Nicolo Gaane, co-chair of the Higalaay Festival Market, invited city residents and visitors to experience the vibrant bazaar as part of this year’s Higalaay Festival.
The festival market is among the activities leading up to the city’s annual celebration in honor of its patron saint, St. Augustine, whose feast day is observed on August 28.
The festival market is a centerpiece for the month-long Higalaay celebrations. Vendors from across the city have set up stalls, offering a diverse array of local crafts, delicacies, and signature Mindanaoan products.
For many local entrepreneurs, the market represents a crucial economic boost.
Stalls are packed with every delicious delicacy and others. Visitors can also be seen navigating the aisles, enjoying live music, and participating in the festive atmosphere.
As the city counts down to the official feast day, Councilor Gaane, chair of the committee on health, and other authorities have assured the public that health and safety protocols remain in place.
Residents and tourists are encouraged to visit the market to support local businesses and take part in the city’s most anticipated annual event. (JBD/SP)
