Four territorial zones proposed for Barangay 17
Updated: Oct 1
To formally recognize four territorial zones in Barangay 17, its Barangay Council enacted an ordinance that will strengthen community identification, support barangay governance, development planning, and ensure equitable representation of zones during consultations and assemblies.
Barangay 17 Chair Anthony Atterviry III during a meeting of the Committee on Barangay Affairs chaired by Councilor Marlo Tabac, said the formal identification of the barangay’s territorial zones would help guide development efforts and address practical concerns, including the delivery of goods and provision of services within the community.
Under the proposal, Zone 1 would cover Abellanosa Street from the South National Road toward the riverside and Nagac Street; Zone 2, Del Pilar toward Faith Tabernacle Church and Burgos Street up to Urbina House; Zone 3, Magsaysay Street from the Flores residence to M.H. Del Pilar and the Faith Tabernacle boundaries; and Zone 4, Abellanosa Street from Angeles House toward Magsaysay Street at the Flores residence.
Atty. Julyanne Lomocso of the City Legal Office found the barangay ordinance legally sound and raised no legal objection to its implementation.
The measure was referred to the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) for plotting of the metes and bounds of the four zones, after the engineering survey to be conducted by the City Engineering Office.
The survey results will be attached to the barangay ordinance before it is submitted to the Committee on Laws and Rules for further review and approval. (PGU/SP)
