DOLE-10, Bayabas women assoc team up for livelihood project launch

The Barangay Women's Development Association of Barangay Bayabas has launched a community eatery under the DOLE-Assisted Livelihood Project, with assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office X, the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), and the City Government of Cagayan de Oro.

Councilor Moreno "Jing" Daba IV congratulated the association during the project's launch, commending the beneficiaries and partner agencies for promoting livelihood opportunities that empower women and strengthen community development.

The project is implemented under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), also known as the Kabuhayan Program, one of the two major components of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP).

The program provides livelihood assistance to vulnerable workers through equipment, tools, training, and other support to help them establish, restore, or expand sustainable income-generating enterprises.

Designed to reduce poverty and promote entrepreneurship, the program aims to create sustainable sources of income, generate employment, and enable disadvantaged workers to become self-reliant through productive livelihood opportunities.

"This program is truly laudable because it empowers women, creates sustainable sources of income, and strengthens families by allowing beneficiaries to build better lives through honest work. It is a testament to what can be achieved when government agencies and local communities work together," Daba said. (JAO/SP)
