COUNCILOR Moreno Y. Daba IV, chair of the city council committee on education, extended his warm congratulations and encouragement to a new batch City Scholars during their First-Year Orientation and Get Together held recently at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) Gymnasium.

The orientation brought together scholars currently enrolled at Capitol University, Pilgrim Christian College, STI, University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP), Southern Philippines College (SPC), PHINMA Cagayan de Oro College, and the City College of Cagayan de Oro.

In his inspirational message, Councilor Daba emphasized the value of education as both a personal milestone and a community investment. He urged the scholars to remain focused, disciplined, and grateful, reminding them that their academic journey is not just for themselves but also for their families and the city that supports their dreams.

He stressed that being a City Scholar is both a privilege and a responsibility, and urged them to strive for academic excellence while also preparing to give back to the community.

The gathering served as both a formal orientation and a fellowship activity, allowing the scholars to build camaraderie as they start their collegiate journey.

Councilor Daba assured the students of the City Government’s continuous support under the scholarship program, which aims to empower the youth of Cagayan de Oro by making higher education more accessible. (JAO/SP/Photos from Councilor Daba’s FB page)
