City Council sets registration fees for City College training programs

The 21st City Council has given the nod for the collection of registration fees for training programs and courses to be offered by the Office of Lifelong Learning and Professional Development (OLLPD) of the City College of Cagayan de Oro.

The ordinance was approved during the Council’s regular session on Monday, presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez.

The measure provides for the collection of fees following Mayor Rolando A. Uy’s clarification that revenues generated from the programs shall form part of the City’s General Fund.

The collections will be administered in accordance with government accounting and auditing requirements.

Uy also pointed out that the organization and implementation of executive courses, customized seminars and training activities, and continuing professional development programs are covered by his administrative supervision over local institutions, including the City College, which operates as a local economic enterprise.

The OLLPD was established to provide professional development opportunities through Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs recognized by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

It also conducts executive courses intended to enhance professional competencies and strengthen organizational capabilities among participating institutions and partners.

The Council said the training programs and their corresponding fees are consistent with the City College’s role as a local economic enterprise and support the City Government’s RISE Agenda.

They likewise contribute to the broader national objective of promoting continuing education, skills development, and professional advancement.

The measure was jointly sponsored by the committee on education, chaired by Councilor Moreno Y. Daba IV, and the committee on laws and rules, chaired by Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas. (JAO/SP)
