CITY Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas called on developers for stricter adherence to existing laws and technical review when approving new subdivision projects, saying developers must meet both regulatory standards and social obligations.

During his interview with the City Information Office on the program “Inyong Konseho Karon”, he said that approvals be granted only after thorough evaluation by the City Engineering Office and the City Planning and Development Office, and stressed that high-end subdivision projects should set aside 15-percent of their land area for socialized housing.

“Bantayan kana nato sa approval kung nakasubay ba sila sa gi-require sa balaod nga in every high-end or economic subdivision naay 15% ana in land area nga ila tukuron para sa socialized housing for middle class individuals,” he stressed.

According to the councilor, mandatory technical clearance from the engineering department and conformity with the comprehensive land-use and zoning plans are essential steps that safeguard public interest.

In a separate pledge to help accelerate socialized housing delivery, Councilor Cabanlas also discussed that when homeowners’ association apply for approval of their subdivision projects the committee will immediately approve those requests.

The councilor described the fast-track approval as inspiration for property owners to dedicate land to affordable housing and as a measure to quickly house low and middle-income families.

“Kung naa gani homeowners association nag-unite ug nakakita’g yuta nga himoong socialized housing tabangan nato sila sa ilang development. Dili nato sila lisod-lisoron,” he said. (JBD/SP)
