Cabanlas donates propertyto city for INSPIRE program

COUNCILOR Edgar S. Cabanlas, chair of the City Council committee on subdivision and landed estate, has donated a 3,000–square meter lot located in Barangay Tuburan. The donated lot is intended as site for the proposed Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion Program (INSPIRE).

The INSPIRE program aims to speed up the recovery of the hog sector from African Swine Fever (ASF). It is a three-year program that offers mixed interventions to jumpstart and revive the significantly drying swine industry. It takes particular attention to clustering and consolidation strategies specifically of small hog raisers to facilitate technical support services and other interventions.

In his letter to the City Council, Mayor Uy said the act of Councilor Cabanlas comes at an opportune time as this will be used for the said program. Through an ordinance, the 20th City Council during its regular session presided over by Presiding Officer Pro-Tempore Councilor Romeo V. Calizo authorized City Mayor Rolando A. Uy to enter into and sign the Deed of Donation (Inter Vivos) with Councilor Cabanlas for the purpose. Legislators likewise adopted a resolution commending and expressing gratitude to Councilor Cabanlas for his generosity.
