Councilor Edgar Cabanlas, chairperson of the committee on economic enterprises, wanted the management, monitoring, and accountability measures in the city’s markets and terminal operations be improved and intensified.

He made this instruction after the City Economic Enterprises and Business Development Administration (CEEBDA) presented the economic performance of Carmen, Cogon, and Puerto public markets, the Farmer’s Market and Transportation Terminal, and the Kagay-an Lawndale Spring Resort.

While acknowledging the agency’s report, Cabanlas urged CEEBDA to present a comprehensive and systematic data through monthly comparative reports to better track performance and ensure accountability.

He also urged CEEBDA representatives to prepare their respective records and operational reports, saying he intends to personally visit the different economic enterprises to closely examine their operations and validate existing records.

“Naa tay responsibilidad to improve the city,” Cabanlas emphasized, adding that both the committee and CEEBDA must work harder to improve operations, particularly in maintaining sanitation standards and strengthening coordination through regular monthly meetings.

For her part, City Councilor Imee Moreno suggested exploring the possibility of placing official logos or markers on legitimate vendors to help improve regulation and monitoring.

She also proposed stricter penalties for those who fail to comply with sanitation policies.

The committee is set to conduct a follow-up meeting on May 28 to further tackle the matter and monitor the implementation of the proposed measures. (SPE/SP)
