₱6.5-M budget of SK Kauswagan OK’d

The 21st City Council, under the leadership of Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, has declared operative the ₱6.5 million annual budget of Barangay Kauswagan SK (Sangguniang Kabataan).


Taking the lion’s share is the ₱2.495 million youth development and empowerment programs to provide opportunity for youth participation in local governance and nation-building.


To assist poor yet deserving students, the youth council has earmarked ₱330,000 for a study hub that includes free printing services and educational facilities, and an additional ₱290,000 for livelihood skills training, agricultural training, and financial literacy.


SK Kauswagan also earmarked ₱180,000 worth of programs for the gender and sexual minorities and persons with disability, and another ₱100,000 to give travel support to Kauswagan youth delegates in events they will take part in.


Acknowledging the importance of environmental conservation and protection, ₱205,000 has been budgeted for their waste segregation project and clean-up and information drives.


₱2.394 million worth of maintenance and operating expenses were likewise intended for cultural and athletic activities, office supplies and materials, training and travel, and repairs and maintenance to office structures and equipment, among others.


The said Kauswagan youth council Budget was reviewed and endorsed by the City Council sports and youth development committee of Councilor Kenneth John D. Sacala and the laws and rules committee of Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas. (FDC/SP)
