Public hearing on rela fare matrix set on Friday

THE City Council committee on public utilities chaired by Councilor Teodulfo Lao will conduct a public hearing on Friday, April 13, 2:00 PM at the City Council Session Hall, to discuss the changing of fare matrix of Motorela under Ordinance No. 11670-2010.

This, after the committee during its meeting last week tackled the request of ALYANSA-MP3 to repeal Ordinance No. 11670-2010 or Fare Matrix 2010, and approve a new matrix.

Under Ordinance No. 11670-2010, the regular fare for high school and college students, seniors and PWD’s, at a gasoline price of Php 40.00-Php 55.00 per liter, is only P5.00, and P2.00 for elementary pupils.

Engr. Nonito Oclarit, Asst. Head of the RTA, said there should be bracketing of fare for motorelas so that no operator or driver will abuse and collect higher fares than what is mandated in the ordinance. (EF)
