Kag Suzette acts on need for more classrooms at Taguanao Elem School
COUNCILOR Suzette Magtajas-Daba, chair of the City Council committee on education, favorably endorsed to the Local School Board for appropriate action the resolution of Barangay Indahag requesting for the allocation of funds of the construction of a four-storey building with 24 classrooms for Sitio Taguanao, Barangay Indahag.
The Power learned that the barangay council had already complied with needed documents, including Tax Declaration of the property, which is under the name of Taguanao Elementary School. However, the title of the property is still on process.
According to the barangay officials, Taguanao Elementary School needs an additional classroom to cater to its increasing number of pupils. It is their longtime dream to have an additional building to replace some classrooms, most of which were constructed decades ago and need to be replaced, said the barangay officials.
During the meeting on Friday, Emmanuel Alingig, the school principal, said the school is now catering to about 750 students in only 17 classrooms.
The teachers have two shifts, one starts from 6:00 in the morning to 12:00 noon and the other shift, from 12:00 noon to 6:00 in the evening, said the principal.
