Police body asked to look into shooting incident at PAF office
“WHAT happened inside the headquarters of Tactical Operations Group X is a matter of both administrative and criminal considerations.”
This was the remarks made by Councilor Romeo V. Calizo, chair of the City Council committee on police, fire and public safety, in response to the special report of Councilor George S. Goking, during the 67th regular session of the 18h City Council presided over by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy, regarding the shooting incident inside the Philippine Air Force Tactical Operations Group headquarters in Lumbia which resulted to the death of two regular AFP personnel.
Considering this occurrence as an internal matter of the agency, Councilor Calizo is optimistic that administrative procedures such as filing the case against the culprit has already been done following the provisions set by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). Furthermore, the same is also true for the criminal part since no affidavit of desistance have been executed by the immediate relatives of the complainant/s, the councilor added.
“I’m very sure immediate and appropriate actions have already been taken although as a matter of trying to determine where the lapses are and how to avoid similar incident to happen again, it has already been brought to the attention of my committee to take appropriate action on the matter,” the councilor said.
As requested by the reporter, the presiding officer referred this matter to the committee on police, fire and public safety, chaired by Councilor Romeo V. Calizo, for appropriate action. (JAO)
