Public U cmte, RTA launch PUV Operators and Drivers Seminar

MORE than one hundred operators and drivers of public utility vehicles attended the launching of the PUV Operators and Drivers Seminar on Friday, which was initiated by the City Council committee on public utilities chaired by Councilor Teodulfo E. Lao in partnership with the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA).

Councilor Lao pushed for the holding of the seminar to ensure that operators and drivers are well informed and have common understanding of traffic rules and regulations.

“It is also time to encourage drivers, part sila sa atong kalihukan,” Councilor Lao added.

Councilor Lao stressed that all transport groups should help the city, the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB), and police in maintaining order in the streets.

“Aron mahimong hapsay ang kadalanan ... kung magtinabangay ta maanindot na puy-an ang atong syudad,” Lao added.

FREE SEMINAR

The free seminar, with the theme, “Balaod sa Trapiko sundon ta para likay sa aksidente ug multa,” will take place every Friday, from 8: 00 am to 5:00 pm until December 2017, said Engr. Nonito Oclarit, assistant department head of the RTA.

Resource persons and officials from the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will present existing and new traffic rules and regulations during the seminar, The Power learned.

“Mas maayo unified ang pahibalo sa balaodnon sa trapiko,” Oclarit added.

The RTA is expecting 60 participants to attend the weekly seminar.

OUTSTANDING DRIVERS

In relation to the campaign, Councilor Lao said he will also propose the holding of the Search for Outstanding Drivers in the city next year.

Those who have no citation ticket and strictly follow traffic rules and regulations will be qualified to receive awards and incentives, he said.

According to Councilor Lao, the search will encourage drivers to serve as role models to other drivers.

“Every quarter we will award outstanding drivers nga nagpakabana,” he announced.
