City Councilor Gilda O. Go has been elected as Chairperson of the Committee on Cooperative, Labor, and Employment, following the City Council’s approval of a resolution formalizing the composition of its standing committees, as stipulated in the Internal Rules of Procedure (IRP). The resolution was adopted during the inaugural session of the 21st City Council, presided over by Vice Mayor Jocelyn "Bebot" Rodriguez.

Councilor Go expressed her gratitude for the opportunity and conveyed her readiness to fulfill the responsibilities of the position in close collaboration with her fellow councilors.
As outlined in the approved resolution, the committee is mandated to study, investigate, and report on matters directly and principally related to the promotion and development of cooperative movements and organizations. This includes financing and assistance programs, livelihood initiatives, and incentives aimed at strengthening cooperative development in both urban and rural communities.
The committee also oversees matters concerning labor rights and welfare, including employer-employee relations, women and child labor, wages and hours of work, labor standards, labor-related statistics, and mechanisms for the mediation, conciliation, and arbitration of labor disputes.
Councilor Desiree Ann M. Dahino has been elected as Vice Chairperson of the committee, while Councilors George Christopher Q. Goking, Al P. Legaspi, Sr., and Yevonna Yacine B. Emano will serve as members. (SPEscoltos/SP)
