Rodriguez calls for prompt release of senior citizens’ subsidy

Councilor Jonjon Rodriguez is calling for the prompt release of the senior citizens subsidy amidst deliberations of the proposed Senior Citizens Code of Cagayan de Oro City during the meeting of the committee on senior citizens, chaired by Councilor Gigi Go.

As committee member and chairperson of the committee on social services, Rodriguez reminded the body of the subsidy intended for senior citizens and stressed the importance of its prompt release.

He said the timely release of the subsidy is necessary to ensure that senior citizens receive the support they need without unnecessary delay.

The call came as the committee reviewed Proposed Ordinance No. 2026-339, or the “Ordinance Adopting the Senior Citizens Code of Cagayan de Oro City, and for Other Purposes.” The proposed code covers policies promoting the physical, social, economic, mental, psychological, and spiritual well-being of senior citizens.

It also provides for the promotion of senior citizens’ rights and special privileges, as well as assistance in addressing complaints involving establishments, institutions, or agencies that fail to comply with benefits provided by law. (JDO/SP)
