THE City Council committee on barangay affairs has deferred action for the meantime on its review of the Barangay Council of Mambuaya ordinance, regulating the sale of liquor and cigarettes to minors, citing the absence of its representative during its recent meeting.

Committee member Councilor Jonjon Rodriguez emphasized that, at least, a representative should have been present to answer questions, particularly on whether the City Legal Office’s recommendations for revisions were already incorporated.

The non-appearance of a representative, Rodriguez said, leaves the matter unresolved and prevents the committee from determining the ordinance’s readiness for approval.

Councilor Marlo Tabac, barangay affairs committee chair, recommended that a formal communication be sent to the Barangay Council directing it to comply with the necessary corrections before the proposal is taken up again. (FDC/SP)
