Dads grant salary hike to City Hall health retiree

Through an ordinance, the 20th City Council, during the 46th regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, increased the salary grade of Mr. Nicomedes G. Bactong, Nurse II of the J.R. Borja General Hospital (JRBGH), who will soon compulsorily retire from government service.

Pursuant to Section 30 of RA 7305 (Magna Carta for Public Health Workers), three months prior to compulsory retirement, a public health worker shall automatically be granted one salary grade higher than his or her basic salary and retirement benefits thereafter computed on the basis of his or her highest salary, provided that s/he has reached the age and fulfilled service requirements under existing laws.

For this purpose, legislators appropriated an amount from the personal services-salary savings of the JRBGH for the payment of his three-month salary differential.

The ordinance was sponsored by the Committees on Finance, Budget, and Appropriation, and Laws and Rules, respectively chaired by Councilors Yan Lam S. Lim and Edgar S. Cabanlas.
