Dads back intensive campaign against illegal drugs thru SocMed

The 20th City Council on its regular session Monday presided over by Vice Mayor Jocelyn B. Rodriguez adopted a resolution urging all Punong Barangays, chairpersons of Sangguniang Kabataan, Regional and/or Provincial Directors of national government agencies or instrumentalities and heads/chiefs of City Government offices/departments to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs through social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and etc., and to use the hashtag “#DILGPADS” per Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memorandum dated September 22, 2022.

Pursuant to EO No. 66, series of 2018, Institutionalizing the Philippine Anti-Illegal Drugs Strategy (PADS), DILG is tasked to mobilize the support of local stakeholders in advocacy and education campaign against illegal drugs.

In line with this, all local government units (LGUs) are enjoined to utilize social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc., in informing the public of their respective efforts in eradicating the drug menace. The hashtag “#DILGPADS” shall also be used in all posts pertaining to anti-illegal drug programs to create visibility and make it easier for online users to find posts or information regarding the holistic efforts of the national government.

Furthermore, LGUs are also enjoined to like and share the official FB page of the DILGPADS (facebook.com/dilg.padspmo) and share all its posts in their respective social media accounts. All posts of LGUs using the official hashtag shall likewise be shared in the DILG PADS page, The Gavel learned.

The legislation was endorsed by the committees on public order and safety and on laws and rules chaired by Councilors Romeo V. Calizo and Ian Mark Q. Nacaya, respectively.
